A graphics package inspired to compliment the TWCo consumer app redesign released in 2024 and designed to work for automated content generation in ReelSphere.

This custom graphics package has been utilized by The Weather Company beyond Reelsphere and has been featured on weather.com for editorial content as well as by the enterprise sales and marketing teams to modernize the demo samples.

What is ReelSphere?

TWCo’s product ReelSphere generates automated, highly-customized and short-form weather streaming content and even lets users add an AI voice that can sound like a local meteorologist. Think of the quick weather forecast updates you usually see while watching local news.

Visual Appeal Bridges Generations

As media consumption habits continue to evolve, particularly among younger audiences, there is a growing need to understand how new video formats and technologies resonate with viewers across different devices and platforms. 

As a product designer, I felt that it was crucial to gather comprehensive consumer insights about ReelSphere's latest video content offerings to inform product development, graphic package iteration, and market positioning strategies

This study aimed to collect statistically significant data from all demographics to provide actionable insights.

Top Valued Features

Temperature is consistently the most important feature across all age groups

Younger viewers prioritize "feels like" and visual elements, while older viewers focus more on precipitation forecasts.

This graphics package is a product within a product. And for improvements to be made, looking at the roses and thorns from the survey provide actionable directives. Specifically on how the graphics package can be furthered tinkered and how can ReelSphere be iterated to produce appealing and informative content.

  • 35-54: Keep the human element - don't replace experienced meteorologists with AI

  • 55+: Slow down and make it easier to read/digest the information
