Color Customizer Update for Digital Textiles

WeaveUp

This is the initial flow update to the color customizer in it’s larger form. However the visual design was in need of further iteration.

Pain Points:

Color Customizer occupies too much real estate on the design screen. The circles take up too much space and are too small. Top navigation is too bulky and is branded.

Goal:

Reduce overall footprint while increasing the tap able area of the color swatches as well as streamline design to be more lightweight and focus on the color swatches.

Updates:

Reduced width by 50 px and height by 80 px at its largest size while increasing swatch size from 44 x 44 px to 50 x 50 px. The new design at its smallest size ( with 7 colors and 7 swatches ) is 40% smaller than the original. Reduced the weight and styling of the top navigation as well as Edit Color and Palette tabs which allows more room for other tabs to come.

New Opportunities Based on Componentized Customizer

As the Product Development Platform is developed, the possibilities introduced by our new architecture in V2, two major changes are coming into view:

  1. We may no longer offer consumers / end-users the ability to change repeat type as part of the customization experience, and instead, leave this decision entirely in the hands of the uploading artist.

  2. We now need to rethink how much of our scale decisions are made on the shopping page vs. within the customizer specifically.

The solution will need to support both JOANN embedding this break-out customizer experience on newer versions of their own product details pages, as well as us embedding this in our own ecommerce sites.

This iteration of the customizer with a mobile first design to prioritize goals of creating a slimmer customizer as well as establish a clear flow for the users to be able to easily purchase their customized designs.
